Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man. Landing is the first.

FOX sucks

I’m angry. I’m actually downright furious. I’m disappointed, frustrated, and, oddly, pained.

After watching the whole series of Firefly beginning to end, in the right order, I realized that FOX has no idea what it’s doing. This was always a passing comment about television stations (at least, after [conjured] “reality” shows came around) but it really hits a strong example when you look at Firefly getting cancelled. The show was perfect.

In so many ways this show started off in it’s stride. You know how shows eventually find themselves and hit a niche? For instance, Star Trek: The Next Generation season one was worthless crap. Really. Season three is where it took off and seasons five to seven were just damned good (oddly Voyager never found a stride, but I digress). Firefly started out knowing what it was and where it was going. The plots were laid down and the ship was moving right along. The problem? It wasn’t 24 or CSI and 20 million people didn’t hop on the first episode.

There’s a good summary of all of this on CFQ and it talks about a potential movie and about the DVD set as well. Well, back to the show so I can be wildly enthralled, perfectly entertained, and psychotically furious.
