Wow. That’s impressive. You echo exactly the racist and bigoted mentalities we’re hearing about from the supporters that attend McCain and Palin rallies. So it would appear that the majority of the people still supporting Cotton/Peggy are, what, scared of his race and his father’s religion? Really?

That’s kind of sad, honestly.

October 16, 2008 - 11:26pm
OneNation said

No personally I am scared of his ties to known terrorist, his socialist views on taxation, yes his reverend Wright religion, his associations with people who commit voter fraud, his advisors who consist of high ranking Freddy and Fanny executives, the unscrupulous means of receiving a discount on the home he lives in, his lack of patriotism and a whole host of other shady acts. Sleep now and wake up in a socialist society. WAKE UP NOW!

October 17, 2008 - 12:41am
Adam Knight said

His ties? Come on now, you don’t really believe that shit, do you? A man did some nasty things forty years ago, paid the price for it, and now is trying to give back to his community and you want to try and make it sound like he’s fucking Bin Ladin in a Motel 6 on the weekend.

Socialist views on taxation? You mean “pay according to your ability”? That the rich should actually be paying taxes instead of finding ways to avoid them?

Associations with voter fraud? What the hell, man? Are you paying attention at all? That’s a group of people that did their own thing and weren’t even supported by ACORN proper, much less anyone that supported ACORN. Fuck, man, I wouldn’t (and don’t) hold Cotton/Peggy responsible for the racist and violent views of their followers and I certainly wouldn’t hold them responsible for any actions those crazy people take in their names. It’s out of their control.

And, finally, LACK OF PATRIOTISM? What the HELL are you talking about? How can you not see a man that dedicated his life to community-building as anything but a modern patriot? Who loves his country more than the man that dedicates his life to the citizens of that country and bettering their lives?

I am awake, and I’m shocked that there are people as ignorant as you still in my country. How many generations do we have left until your kind dies out, again?

October 17, 2008 - 11:41pm
OneNation said

You’re going to be one of the people who will be crying for their rights in 2 years. Democrats will pass laws that permit voter registration and voting on the same day so anyone can vote, legal or not. They will suppress free speech until there is no where left for you to find the truth without violating their law. Unions will gain so much power that businesses will send jobs over seas to escape taxation and union control. McCain is an American hero for what he sacrificed in war, other than that he is no better for this position. Many of his policies are just as bad if not worse than Hussein, but if it comes down to four more years of the same, I will take my chances and try again next time when fascism is not my other option. By the way, you sound just like Hitler (“How many generations do we have left until your kind dies out, again?”) You should come out of your parent’s basement for some fresh air some time.

October 18, 2008 - 12:16am
Adam Knight said

I’m already crying for my rights; Cheney’s done a lovely job of taking them away.

Voter registration on the same day as voting is an extremely progressive and wonderful idea currently in use effectively in many states in the union. I would hope that it spreads nationwide so that voter caging can finally come to an end.

The power balance between companies and unions is truly epic and it does tilt to and fro with each administration. If either get too powerful, we’re all in for it. However, right now, companies are far more powerful and need to be broken, so I’m for a little more union power if that’s how we’re going to solve it.

Four more years of the same will destroy us. We cannot let that happen.

Fascism will not come from the Democratic Party. They’re more interested in socialism (little S) and mild authoritarianism. It’s the elephants in the room that want massive authoritarianism under the guise of federalism (just like they want to be conservative spenders but push deficit spending). Fear those monkeys if you need to be scared of something.

Dear “Daniel Sucks,”

It is most helpful to one when one’s argument does not contain profane and ignorant insults, such as “homos.” This is not, despite popular belief, a synonym for stupid. If this Daniel were to stumble into a chat with a bunch of Republicans discussing the issues, and this would happen if any of us were to walk into our opposer’s LION’S DEN (because let’s face it, that’s all internet chats are these days), his thoughts would not come across. The likelihood of any dedicated Democrat/Republican/Other to change their minds this late in the game is unlikely. Yes, maybe worth trying, but a meaningless chat board will have little to no effect on anyone. Also, please, and I mean this with the utmost respect and dignity…

Please Vote Smart said

That picture is funny…because the cartoons look like the people…and because John McCain is old and fought in a war and Cotton Hill is old and fought in a war…I get it.

Further, the comments about McCain and Obama make me afraid that you people will actually vote. So, to allay my fears somewhat (and to engender the wrath of the mighty intellects to follow my comment) I’ll give you these web addresses:
www.ontheissues.org
www.votesmart.org
www.factcheck.org
If you go there, you can find out where the candidates stand on the issues. Don’t cry foul play yet…Vote Smart was created by a Democrat…who lost to John McCain in Arizona…so if it is biased it’s probably biased the way most of you would want it to be. On The Issues uses direct quotes that can be cross referenced. Fact Check exposes lies in campaign advertising. See where the candidates stand on the issues that are important to you (being black and being old aren’t debatable issues). Then, look at their voting records to see if what they say about where they stand on the issues is really where they stand on the issues. Then, go vote for the candidate that holds similar views to you. Then, Yay Democracy!
Also, Obama has made it clear that he is against gay marriage just as John McCain though both of them say to leave it to the states. Neither supports deporting all illegal immigrants. If the war is the main crux of your interest then maybe you should look at the facts on other possibilities for war to see Obama’s feelings on war outside of the Iraq war. (He’s not against war, or the US being at war; see his comments on what he would do if Iran attacked Israel). McCain will keep the US in Iraq. Obama supports having troops out by 2009.
I’m not sure if it’s getting through but Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc all lie. They have an agenda. It’s not Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative. It’s to get you to watch. Whatever makes money. Comedy Central is not a source of information about the candidates. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have tried to make this clear on numerous occasions. If you are voting because of the things you see on TV then: stop, take a breath, clear your head, establish what is important to you, read the facts, and vote.

Thank you.
Let the inane comments begin.

There’s socialism, and there’s socialist policies, and there’s a wide gulf between them.

Talk about the evils of socialism the next time you have to take unemployment, Medicaid, or Social Security. Talk about how we should all stand or fall on our own when your children lose their jobs and their homes and you don’t have the money to take them back into your home and support them without putting you out of house and home as well.

Safety nets are a humanitarian action, not something to be looked at as evil. Think before you spew, please.

Safety nets are a humanitarian action when used in moderation, socialized health care is not humanitarian. Spreading the wealth is not humanitarian, especially when Joe Biden can make $9,000,000,000 in 7 years and only donate $3,000 to charity in that same amount of time. Which would not be a big deal if he was not socialist.

It’s not socialized health care, you fucking ‘tard. It’s a government health insurance program designed to cover the uncoverable. Doctors are still private, you can choose to get normal coverage still, and everything’s still nice and capitalistic. If you are, however, down on your luck, you won’t die as result. You’d seriously argue against that?

Spreading the wealth? At which point did he tell me I was getting a check in the mail with his wife’s money?

It’s honestly astounding how many dim-witted, ignorant, idiots still inhabit this country called America. I’m a registered independent, and I refuse to support either candidate due to the fact that neither of them accurately represent the people I think are the most important in the US. Namely me. What the future holds for America is blatantly obvious, Catastrophe. The combination of the above mentioned idiots and the one of the unqualified presidential candidates will bring about only ruin and strife. It really is sad when the intelligent people of this country are the minority. To clear up why I don’t like the candidates, I know it’s going sound shallow and selfish, but I’m a secular humanist that doesn’t believe in having ones morals derive from religion. Religion and politics should NEVER mix. But they do. And I weep. I want to move to Canada or great Great Britain, I’m sick of a mock democracy and false hope for a prosperous future. True Democracy is a lie, maybe if America had a suffix that was synonymous with “good” it would work, but sadly it doesn’t. BAH. I be rambling like the 94 year old man that I am inside.
Have a great day.

G’day mates, I really enjoyed the photo/cartoon likenesses a good joke.

The resulting political debate is an even better joke.
As a citizen of the 53rd State, still called Australia, I believe I should be allowed to vote in your elections. I’ve watched the televised debates and had a good laugh. You need a change of government, just as we did. We had the guts to kick the old guard out. It helps that we have compulsory voting.

Please care enough about the rest of us, who get no say, to get out there and vote. Pray that it gets counted properly by honest people. If the police allow you in to vote. We’ve seen what you call democracy and there has been none in the last two elections. It’ll be good to see your President off the pay roll of the Saudi Royal family too. They paid him heaps more than you did.

We don’t think we are inferior to any one. There just aren’t enough of us to go around picking fights. We let you guys do that. As good mates we back you up when we can. Good luck.

Wow. It’s almost as if McCain’s campiagn committee chose Palin on purpose because of this uncanny resemblance. .....They already realized McCain was a spitting-image of the grandfather, who is an ornery asshole who loses his temper, so all they had to do next was find a “Peggy” look-alike who shares the same “oblivious-to-real-life” attitude.

Example: “Peggy” thinks she can speak Spanish fluently. She’s so ignorant (but her character is nice, I’m not bashing) to the fact that she can’t speak it well, that Mexicans laugh in her face when she tries – and she doesn’t even understand Spanish enough to know they are making fun of her…..Likewise with Palin, thinking she is knowlegable in world affairs and foriegn policy. Because Russia is close to Alaska, she actually thinks this makes her qualified to speak on matters of highly volatile world affairs. People laugh at her for this huge stretch of her imagination into thinking she’s a world leader, and she’s too stupid to realize it.

She’s as dumb as a stump when it comes to anything outside of Alaska, dumb as a stump about anything that has to do with women thinking for themselves, and dumb as a stump when it comes to realizing real-life is never always cut-and dry – like most idiot Conservatives think. I’m STILL trying to figure them out. Do they think America’s population is so easy to categorize, are they lopping off huge sections of the square peg of life, to fit in a round hole – on purpose, or without realizing they are?

Are they forcing their views in the minds of the poverty stricken where simplicity just doesn’t fit (because life isn’t that simple)? Are they ignoring blaring mistakes and consequences that come with being unbelievably ignorant? Who knows. But what I DO know, is that Conservatives are so wrong, because they are selfish. They can’t see past their own greed. God forbid anyone in this country should need help in feeding their family or sleeping under a roof. To Conservatives, it’s “their problem”

Just for example – for I could find no better example of a people who were so supportive of their own – imagine if you will our Native Americans in the height if their reign. We’ve all heard stories about how they lived, worked, and died for each other, right? Can you imagine them turning away members of any given tribe, casting out the elderly, sick, and weak?? No. They would never, it is CRUEL and against the survival instincts of a people (Conservatives by contrast, are missing that “survival of our people” gene). The tribes took care of each other, taught each other how to survive – even if someone didn’t get it right the first time. There were no “loosers”. Time was taken to make everyone’s life better by TEACHING the necessary skills to succeed in life to everyone. ........If there were a Conservative party within the Native American population back then, they surely would have died off before the settlers even got here.

Well, as a nation, we are one big tribe, one big family, and Consevatives are splitting us down the middle like an axe to firewood. They’re creating enemies within our own tribe, turning us against each other. But I think as a nation, we are finally waking up to evilness of their greed….They just want to get rich by overcharging everyone they can for anything they sell, hoard all the money, go hide in the hills, have nothing to do with the betterment of our people, and only hang out wiith each other while laughing the whole time at all the poor folk. They look for any reason whatsoever to lable someone “different”, including color of skin, financial standing, religion, and country of origin. They do this just to create a group of people they can feel “better than”. It’s all about feeling better than someone else. It’s a selfish, narcissistic way to live. Conservatives are narcissistic, they are ultra-selfish.

And they call Obama an “elitest”!!! Oh my God, what could be more “elite” than the members of the Conservative party?? They care about NO ONE but themselves and their precious millions. Not just comfortable money, but MILLIONS. And then ON TOP OF IT ALL, as if they don’t display enough obnoxiousness already, they want to pay less tax than the poor do!!!! If that isn’t the most ASS-BACKWARDS thing I ever heard in my life!!!: give welfare to the rich, and pay for all our Nation’s problems by taking it from the poor instead. —-It makes me SICK. —-Not only are they much more rich than most of us, they want EVEN MORE money while taking steps to make sure the poor have even less.

——DOWN with Conservative Republicans, DOWN with ultra-greed, DOWN with white-collar law breakers, DOWN with “trickle-down economics”, DOWN with John McCain and Sarah Palin. ——UP with the middle-class, UP for hard workers, UP with programs that eliminate ignorance, UP with keeping jobs here in America, UP with teaching skills to the poor, UP WITH TAXES FOR THE RICHEST OF THE RICHEST OF THE RICH (the top 5%)—-UP WITH THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!!!

The credit crunch? The forclosures in the tens of millions??? You guys don’t see that? WOW. We really have some ignorant people here in America, to think change could make things WORSE than George Bush’s policies. Thank God I have a brain that lets me see the wole picture, instead of just the elitist Conservative Republican picture. Wow, how opposite and backwards you guys are. Selfish greedy assholes, to be more accurate. So much so that you’ll distort facts to support your case. And you KNOW you’re doing it too, which makes it even worse. Democrats, Republicans – Fellow countrymen, lend me your ears.

Feel free to keep arguing (they love how you keep yourselves distracted) but it really doesn’t matter who you vote for, they’re just different routes to the same goals – goals of people who do not represent you. You’re presented with the illusion of a choice to keep you complacent enough to not fight back.

The stock-market “crash” is going to lead to the introduction of the “Amero” – a shared currency between Canada, Mexico, and the US. Doesn’t matter if McCain introduces it or Obama does, it’s going to be hailed as a heroic action, necessary to save our great country. Just like the introduction of the Federal Union (a centralized banking system, specifically forbidden by the Constitution) was presented to end the Great Depression and ensure that such a thing could never happen to our economy again… until it was convenient. We’re here to witness the next step towards a global currency, and as we should know by now; he who controls the money cares not who makes the laws.

I don’t want you to think that I am saying these things from a place of hopelessness – that’s far from the case. People are taking notice, people are not as stupid as we forum-dwellers are quick to suggest. There are many more who would welcome a change than we are led to believe, and many less uninformed sheep than we seem to think. Largely because of the internet, more people are starting to realize how little about the current government is what it appears to be, and I have faith that it will soon hit a point where we find the strength to say NO MORE.

Nothing has value until it’s value is believed by people. A dollar is just a piece of paper. No one has power unless it is recognized by others. In other words, their control is fueled by US.

By these same principles, you control a populous by controlling their beliefs. For our grandparents, religion was the best way to control belief, in our day we ask more questions, so the best method is the media. Control your own life, don’t let anyone or anything dictate what you believe. I believe that this self-serving dictatorship in disguise is nearing it’s end, and I believe that people are intelligent enough to evolve their patterns of thought away from the values and beliefs subtly suggested by television, school, advertisements – and everything you’re bombarded with 24/7, but don’t necessarily think about having an effect. Question, seriously and honestly, where your current beliefs came from. Do some research, your belief may be skewed, and can always be altered to better serve YOU. After all, a belief is just a thought you keep thinking.

Don’t just believe me, do some research. What I’m talking about is two steps beyond quantum physics – the power of the aware observer is unlimited.

We’re on the verge of recognizing that WE really do create reality. Cause and effect are not what we have been trained to think they are. What you believe shall be, shall be. So fear not, and have hope.

The apocalypse is coming, and it will be AMAZING. If you find yourself disagreeing, look up the definition of apocalypse and define your own belief, don’t waste your time calling me crazy. I already know.

Oh yeah… that picture was damn funny.

All the best conspiracy theories are based on truths. The problem is that the conclusion from those truths is skewed because the wrong set of truths is used to arrive at that conclusion.

Put another way: the dollar is having problems, the peso always is, but the “loon” is doing comparatively well. I sincerely doubt the representative countries would risk being involved with America’s currency, especially seeing what we’ve done to our own. If we can’t keep our own dollar worth something, there’s no reason to believe anyone would risk their own economy by linking their currency to ours.

I don’t want to make anyone’s head explode. I honestly read most of comments above, and alot of what is being said is strange and surreal to me.

What is wrong with socialism?

I live in a socialist country and life here is safe, happy and free.

There are no handguns (or any guns without excessive testing and fees) and thus almost no homicide.
Almost no one litters.
There is little smog.
Free healthcare (I would be dead without it)
Little to no crime rate (even in the area of drug abuse, which does not run rampant despite ‘leaner’ laws)
Open elections.
A welfare state supported by tax dollars.
Government controlled social services which include communication, heat and water.
Paid for child care.
Easily accesible student loans (although school should be free)
EI benefits which stretch as long ( or almost as long ) as your working peroid.
If not there is always welfare!

Or country has a strong currency despite our environmental concerns and a GDP. We live next door to war mongering assoles and still keep happy and healthy!

Everyone should just move to Canada.

With a conservative government, we are still more liberal than your democratic party.

By the by, liberal and social are good, not bad words.

Propaganda, greed and individualism are cultural by products, not human nation.

Long live socialism.
